Child safety standards

Last updated 5 November 2026

Our standard

schoolhouse has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), including child sexual abuse material (CSAM), grooming, sextortion and trafficking. Any such content or behaviour is removed, the accounts involved are closed, and we report it to the authorities.

These standards apply to everyone who uses schoolhouse and to everything shared in it: notices, class news, posts, comments, messages, photos and files.

How schoolhouse is designed to protect children

  • Children have no accounts. Only adults (proprietors, staff and parents or guardians) can sign in, and there is no way for an adult to message a child in the app.
  • Verified schools. Every school is checked against its CAC registration before anyone can join it.
  • Approved members. Each parent and teacher is approved by the school, with a face photo and, for staff, a staff ID or appointment letter.
  • Need-to-know access. A child's photo, results and attendance are visible only to that child's parent and the school's staff.
  • Screenshots blocked on children's pages on Android, and photo uploads limited to what each feature needs.

Reporting

In the app: every post, comment, message, class news item and member has a Report option (⋮ menu). Reports go to the school's managers and to schoolhouse. You can also block a person.

By email: hello@loveschoolhouse.com. Mark the subject URGENT: child safety.

If a child is in immediate danger, call the Nigeria Police Force on 112 first.

What we do with a report

  1. We review child safety reports first, as fast as possible.
  2. We remove the content and suspend the accounts involved while we look into it.
  3. Where we find CSAE or CSAM, we report it to the relevant authorities, including the Nigeria Police Force, the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) CyberTipline, and we keep the evidence securely for them.
  4. We close the accounts permanently and stop the person from registering again.

Laws we comply with

We comply with Nigerian law, including the Child Rights Act 2003, the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act 2015, the Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act 2015 and the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, and with the child safety policies of Google Play and the Apple App Store.

Our child safety contact
